Kumasi Asante Kotoko has announced its intention to return to Ghana football following the club’s temporary withdrawal due to the tragic incident in Nsoatre.
During a press conference led by the club’s communication director, Samuel Sarfo Duku, it was confirmed that the Porcupine Warriors plan to resume playing after the burial and final funeral rites of the late Nana Yaw Frimpong, affectionately known as Nana Pooley.
”Asante Kotoko sporting club is willing to return to the pitch after the burial and final funeral rite of the late Nana Yaw Frimpong Alias Pooley.” He said.
Asante Kotoko, Ghana football and the family of the deceased has been through sad and difficult time since the unfortunate incident happened.
Sarfo Duku added the club is convinced the police will intensify their investigation and the court will continue trial for find Justice for the club’s loyal supporter.
With the final funeral rites scheduled for March 6, the team is expected to rejoin competition once the ceremonies are concluded.
Meanwhile, Ghana Premier League clubs made their return to action over the weekend in the MTN FA Cup, playing their first matches since Pooley’s passing.
