Ghana Premier League club Bechem United has announced a GH¢100,000 reward for anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of the killer of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, a devoted Asante Kotoko supporter.
This initiative is part of the club’s efforts to combat hooliganism in Ghanaian football. Bechem United revealed that their decision was also influenced by concerns for their team doctor, Dr. Achau, whose family is urging him to avoid traveling for away matches due to safety fears.
During Monday’s court proceedings, Asante Kotoko’s Communication Director, Sarfo Duku, disclosed that the police have identified the prime suspect in the case. The alleged perpetrator, Brimah, is still on the run, but all the accused individuals involved have confirmed that he was the one responsible for Pooley’s fatal stabbing.
Meanwhile , Asante Kotoko resumed training on Wednesday, February 19, after consulting with their medical team.
However, the club, in a statement released on Tuesday, February 18, made it clear that while they will continue training to maintain fitness, they will not participate in any competitive matches until effective security measures are implemented to ensure safety within the league.
