Black Queens Slip One Spot in FIFA Rankings Despite WAFCON Bronze

Ghana’s Black Queens have dropped one place in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, moving from 66th to 67th, despite a strong showing at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Released on Thursday, August 7, the updated rankings take into account performances from recent international tournaments, including the just-ended WAFCON hosted in Morocco.

While the global ranking saw a minor dip, the Black Queens maintained their 6th position in Africa, holding steady among the continent’s elite.

Ghana finished third at WAFCON, marking their first medal since 2016, after bouncing back from a slow start under head coach Kim Lars.

With qualification campaign of the next WAFCON on the horizon, the Queens will look to build on their renewed momentum and climb back up the global ladder.
