The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that the winner of the 2025 Democracy Cup will earn a spot in a three-team international tournament set to be held in the United States in May 2026.
This exciting development was revealed during the official launch of the second edition of the Democracy Cup, held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at the Justice D. F. Annan Auditorium in Parliament House.
At the launch, Accra-based giants Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics were unveiled as the two clubs selected to contest this year’s prestigious fixture.
Whichever side emerges victorious will go on to represent Ghana in the U.S.-based mini-tournament, further raising the stakes of this year’s clash.
The Democracy Cup, introduced in 2024 by the Parliament of Ghana, aims to foster civic participation and national unity through football. The inaugural edition, played on July 17, 2024, saw Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeat Hearts of Oak 2-1 to claim the maiden title.
With an international opportunity now on the line, the 2025 edition promises to be even more competitive and symbolic.
