AS Saint-Étienne has announced the signing of Ghanaian international Ebenezer Annan, who joins the Ligue 1 club on a deal running until 2028. The 22-year-old left-back arrives from Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade, bringing with him a wealth of experience despite his young age.

Born in Accra, Ghana, Annan began his football journey along the coast of the South Atlantic before moving to Italy as a teenager, where he joined Bologna FC’s youth academy. He rose through the ranks and made his Serie A debut at just 19 against Hellas Verona in January 2022.

After loan spells with Imolese (Serie C) and FK Novi Pazar in Serbia, Annan was signed permanently by Novi Pazar following an impressive run of performances. His strong form earned him a move to Red Star Belgrade in February 2024, where he played a key role in helping the club win both the Serbian league title and the Serbian Cup. That same year, he earned his first cap for the Ghana national team.

Speaking after completing his move to France, Annan expressed his excitement:

I’m very happy to sign for AS Saint-Étienne. The club is building a strong team and enjoys huge support from its fans. It’s an honour for me to join this club. I will give my all in every match to help the team achieve its goals.

Head coach Eirik Horneland also praised his new signing, saying:

Ebenezer is a powerful left-back with great stamina. He comes from a big club that understands pressure, and he also has international experience. We look forward to working with him.
