Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has made a surprising revelation about his early football career, stating that his salary at Berekum Arsenal was just 30 Ghana cedis.
Speaking on Sporty FM’s Sporty Drive show, Agyemang-Badu opened up about the financial struggles he faced during his time at the Ghanaian club.
“My salary at Berekum Arsenal was 30 Ghana cedis.” He said
Despite the modest earnings, he remained committed to his passion, which eventually led to a successful international career.
The 34-year-old later played for top clubs such as Udinese in Italy and represented Ghana at major tournaments, including the Africa Cup of Nations and the FIFA World Cup. He also played a key role in Ghana’s U-20 team that won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009.
His revelation has sparked discussions about player welfare and remuneration in Ghanaian football, with many calling for better financial support for young talents and players in the Ghana Premier League.
