Former Asante Kotoko striker, Eric Bekoe, has expressed concerns over the dedication and commitment of the current generation of footballers, claiming they lack the hard work and passion that defined his playing days.

In an interview on Sporty FM’s Sporty Drive show, Bekoe revealed that during his time at Kotoko in 2008, he earned around 150 cedis per month.

Despite the relatively low salary compared to modern football earnings, he emphasized that he put in significant effort both in training and on the pitch to make a name for himself.

“The current generation of players are lazy,” Bekoe stated, suggesting that today’s footballers have better salaries and improved facilities but fail to show the same level of commitment and determination.

Bekoe, who was Ghana Premier League’s top scorer in the 2007/08 season, believes that current players should work harder to justify the financial investments made in them.

He called for a change in attitude and a renewed sense of professionalism in Ghanaian football.
