The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup draw held in Miami on Thursday, December 5, has set the stage for a thrilling competition that awaits next year.
The expanded 32-team tournament will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13, 2025 with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami opening the competition against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in Group A, despite controversy over the former’s qualification as host nation representatives.
UEFA Champions League defending champions Manchester City have been draw to face Juventus in one of Group G’s top liners.
One of Africa’s representatives, Esperance Sportive de Tunis (Tunisia) were drawn in a tough group comprising of Flamengo (Brazil), Club Leon (Mexico), and Chelsea (England).
Other European heavyweights such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain also feature, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout stage.
South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Casablanca of Morocco were drawn in Group F and Group G where they will face European heavyweights Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City respectively.
