The final draw for the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Egypt 2025, is set to take place on Sunday, 13 April at 17:00 local time (15:00 GMT).
The tournament, scheduled from 27 April to 18 May 2025, will see the draw conducted live from the Egyptian Football Association headquarters via ON Time channels and CAF TV.
In a revised procedure following the cancellation of the initial draw for the U-20 tournament in Ivory Coast, the 13 competing teams will be divided into three groups: Group A will have five teams, while Groups B and C will each feature four teams. The competition format guarantees a spot in the quarter-finals for the top two teams from each pool, along with the two best third-placed teams.
Per the draw procedures, the seeded teams are predetermined: hosts Egypt will occupy position A1, Nigeria—finishing third in the previous tournament—will be in position B1, and holders Senegal will take position C1. Teams from Pot 1, consisting of Tunisia, Zambia, and Central African Republic (all participants in the last edition), will be assigned to positions A2, B2, and C2. Meanwhile, teams from Pot 2—which include Morocco, debutants Sierra Leone, and Ghana, along with Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, and DR Congo (none of whom qualified for the last edition)—will be distributed across positions A3, B3, C3, A4, B4, C4, and A5.
The qualified teams for the tournament are:
- CECAFA: Tanzania, Kenya
- COSAFA: South Africa, Zambia
- UNAF: Egypt (hosts), Morocco, Tunisia
- UNIFFAC: DR Congo, Central African Republic
- WAFU A: Senegal, Sierra Leone
- WAFU B: Nigeria, Ghana
