The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Prosper Harrison Addo has raised security concerns at Baba Yara Stadium and the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, citing issues with safe zones and overall safety measures.

Following rigorous inspections, some venues received full approval, while others were conditionally approved or rejected due to safety concerns. The GFA General Secretary clarified that no venues were entirely dismissed but noted that certain security issues, particularly in the safe zones, need urgent attention.

We have not entirely rejected the stadiums; rather, we identified security concerns, particularly regarding the safe zone. However, other aspects were also considered. The primary issue at Baba Yara and the University of Ghana venue is security. We are working with the clubs and facility owners to address these concerns. He told TV3.

Among the venues fully approved for the upcoming matches are TNA Stadium, Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, Dun’s Park Bibiani, Nsekyire Sports Arena, and Kpando Sports Stadium. However, Baba Yara Stadium and the University of Ghana Stadium must improve their security measures before being granted full clearance.

Clubs have until March 9 to implement the required upgrades, after which a follow-up inspection will determine their suitability for hosting league matches. The GFA continues to work closely with clubs and facility managers to ensure the highest safety standards for players, officials, and fans.
