Ghana’s Black Satellites saw their title hopes dashed on home soil after a 2-1 semi-final defeat to Ivory Coast in the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Boys Cup.
The clash took place on Sunday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, with Ghana taking an early lead through rising star Benjamin Tsivanyo. However, Ivory Coast responded before halftime to level the score.
In a tightly contested second half, the defending champions broke through once more, netting the decisive goal while fending off Ghana’s persistent attacks.
The result sends the Young Elephants into the final against Nigeria, denying Ghana the chance to clinch the title in front of their home crowd.
Ghana will now turn their attention to the third-place playoff against Niger, scheduled for Wednesday, July 23, the same day as the final.
