Asante Kotoko and Bechem United played out a 1-1 stalemate on Sunday, April 13, 2025, in a hotly contested Round 27 clash of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The league leaders, Asante Kotoko, went into the match with hopes of maintaining their top spot and extending their lead at the summit. However, Bechem United had different plans and gave the Porcupine Warriors a stern test throughout the encounter.
The first half saw both sides cancel each other out, with few clear-cut chances and plenty of midfield battles. It was a tactical duel with both teams showing defensive discipline, ending the first half goalless.
The second half sparked to life in the 69th minute when Bechem United’s forward, Darlvin Yeboah, broke the deadlock with a clinical strike that silenced the home fans and gave the visitors a surprise 1-0 lead.
Kotoko responded with urgency and were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute after a handball incident inside the box. Midfielder Albert Amoah stepped up confidently and converted from the spot to bring the Porcupine Warriors level.
Both teams made key substitutions as they chased a late winner, but despite the spirited efforts, neither side could find the breakthrough, and the game ended 1-1.
The draw sees Asante Kotoko stay on top of the league with 47 points after 26 matches, level on points with Bibiani Gold Stars but ahead on goal difference. Bechem United, on the other hand, remain 7th with 40 points, still within touching distance of the top four.
