Ghana asserted its dominance at the 2025 All-Africa U-15 Badminton Championships, winning five gold medals and one silver in the finals held at the Borteyman Sports Complex. Branded the Ghana Grand Slam 2025, the tournament featured elite junior athletes from 24 African nations.

Ghana’s Obampo Adu-Mintah delivered a standout performance, clinching four golds across multiple events. U-15 girls’ national champion Moslena Ama Adu Koramah also impressed, contributing three golds and a silver to Ghana’s medal haul.

The host nation excelled in both the boys’ and girls’ singles, with Adu-Mintah defeating South Africa’s Aiden Dednam in a commanding straight-set win, while Koramah edged past Algeria’s Chiraz Halimi in a gripping three-set final. Ghana also secured gold in the team relay, boys’ doubles, and mixed doubles, finishing the tournament with a comprehensive victory over South Africa.

Ghana Badminton Federation President Evans Yeboah hailed the young team’s outstanding display and encouraged them to sustain their winning momentum.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, who attended the event as a special guest, praised the athletes and reaffirmed government backing for sports development:

“This performance proves Ghana’s potential in emerging sports like badminton. Through the upcoming Sports Fund, we are committed to building a stronger future for badminton and all other sporting disciplines in the country,” he said.

The event concluded with medal and prize presentations to winners, runners-up, and third-place finishers, capping off a memorable week for Ghanaian badminton.
