Hearts of Oak has completed the capture of Micheal Mensah Awuah and striker Asamoah Boateng Afriyie from fellow Ghana Premier League club, Nations FC.

Micheal Mensah Awuah, defender, and  Asamoah Boateng Afriyie joined the Phobians after successfully completing their medicals today.

Awuah, a center-back known for his solidity, adds depth and experience to Hearts of Oak’s defensive line.

His contribution was crucial in helping Nations FC achieve the third-best defensive record in the league last season, conceding only 28 goals.

Awuah’s arrival is a welcome addition for Hearts, who are aiming to tighten up their defense after a shaky campaign last year.

Adding Firepower Up Front

Asamoah Boateng Afriyie brings firepower to the Hearts of Oak attack. The striker impressed last season for Nations FC, netting 11 goals and playing a significant role in their respectable 7th-place finish in the top flight.

His goal-scoring prowess is exactly what Hearts need to improve their attacking efficiency, a key factor in their struggle to avoid relegation last season.

These signings mark Hearts of Oak’s ambition to turn things around after a disappointing 2023/24 season.

The club narrowly escaped relegation on the final day of the Ghana Premier League and will be hoping for a significant improvement in the upcoming campaign and both Awuah and Boateng Afriyie are expected to play crucial roles in this revitalization effort.

Early Test Against Asante Kotoko

Hearts of Oak won’t have long to wait to test out their new signings.

They are set to face their arch-rivals, Asante Kotoko, in the Democracy Cup scheduled for next week.

This high-profile match in the off-season will provide an opportunity for the new recruits to showcase their abilities and potentially announce a new era for Hearts of Oak.
