Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has expressed frustration at what he describes as relentless criticism from journalists, regardless of his team’s performance.

Speaking at the post-match press conference after their 1-0 victory over Medeama SC — their first game back at the Accra Sports Stadium since the season’s opening match against Basake Holystars, Ouattara questioned the expectations placed on his side.

Sometimes I ask myself: what do you journalists want? When we win, you say the performance isn’t good. When we play well and lose, you still criticise, he said.

The coach’s comments come at a crucial point in the season, with the Phobians looking to maintain momentum after their return to their home ground. Ouattara emphasized that while constructive feedback is important, constant negativity could affect the players’ morale. He urged the media to strike a balance in their analysis to help foster growth and confidence within the team.

Following their victory, Hearts of Oak have moved up to 4th on the Ghana Premier League table, just six points behind league leaders Asante Kotoko.
