Iñaki Williams Shines with 3 Assists as Athletic Bilbao Defeat Las Palmas

Ghanaian international Iñaki Williams was the star of the show, providing three crucial assists as Athletic Bilbao secured a thrilling 3-2 victory over UD Las Palmas in their La Liga clash.

Williams, 30, was directly involved in all of Bilbao’s goals, playing a key role in their hard-fought win at Estadio de Gran Canaria.

The forward wasted no time in making his mark on the game, delivering a low cross in the 7th minute that Oihan Sancet calmly tapped in to give Bilbao an early lead.

His influence grew as the match progressed, with his younger brother, Nico Williams, benefiting from Iñaki’s creativity in the 30th minute. A well-timed pass from Iñaki set up Nico to double Bilbao’s lead with a composed finish.

However, the match took a dramatic turn shortly after when Athletic Bilbao were reduced to ten men with a little over half an hour left to play.

Las Palmas quickly capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Sandro Ramirez hitting in a powerful free kick to cut the deficit to 2-1 just before the hour mark.

Despite being down a man, Iñaki Williams continued to inspire his side, he once again beat the offside trap and slid one to Aitor Paredes, who made no mistake from close range, tapping into an open net to restore Bilbao’s two-goal cushion in the 76th minute.

Las Palmas fought back once more and managed to pull another goal back late in the game, making it 3-2. But despite their best efforts, it was too little, too late, as Athletic Bilbao held on for the win.

Iñaki Williams’ remarkable performance, capped by his three assists, was instrumental in Bilbao’s victory, showcasing his vision, pace, and creativity. With this win, Athletic Bilbao continues their strong start to the La Liga season.
