Joseph Paintsil Shines as LA Galaxy Storm into Leagues Cup Quarterfinals
Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil continued his red-hot form for LA Galaxy, earning Man of the Match honors in their dominant 4-0 win over Club Santos Laguna in the Leagues Cup.
Paintsil opened the scoring just two minutes into the match, latching onto a cross from Mauricio Cuevas to set the tone for the Galaxy’s emphatic performance. It marks his third goal in as many Leagues Cup games and his second MOTM award in the competition.
Brazilian striker Matheus Nascimento doubled the lead before halftime, and Maya Yoshida added a third from the penalty spot after Santos Laguna were reduced to 10 men.
The second half saw more misery for the Mexican side as they went down to nine men following another red card. Lucas Sanabria then capped off the rout with Galaxy’s fourth goal.
With this win, LA Galaxy march confidently into the quarterfinals, and Paintsil continues to emerge as a key figure in their title quest.
