Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has lauded the enhanced security measures at his team’s home fixture as the Ghana Premier League resumed but urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to maintain this standard across all match venues.
Speaking after Kotoko’s 2-0 victory over Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, Dr. Ogum highlighted the significance of consistent security arrangements to ensure the safety of all stakeholders.
I was impressed with what I saw today, it’s good for our game. Everyone was safe in the tunnel, and the presence of security personnel was reassuring. He stated.
Given what happened in Nsoatre, we need these measures in place at all venues to guarantee the safety of players, officials, and fans. If this level of security is maintained across the league, it would be ideal. He added
This match marked Kotoko’s return to action following the league’s suspension due to the tragic death of their dedicated supporter, Francis Yaw “Pooley” Frimpong, who was fatally stabbed during violent clashes at Nsoatre when Kotoko faced Nsoatreman.
Ahead of kickoff, Kotoko players paid tribute to Pooley, who was recently laid to rest.
