Asante Kotoko produced a commanding performance at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, hammering Dreams FC 4-1 in a match that reignites their chase for the Ghana Premier League title.

Goals from Albert Amoah, Kwame Poku (brace), and Wisdom Fernando Bassey secured a well-deserved victory for the Porcupine Warriors. Jonathan Nemorden netted the lone consolation for Dreams FC.

The hosts struck first in the 17th minute through Albert Amoah, who pounced on a defensive lapse to put Kotoko in front. Kwame Poku then doubled the lead with a fine strike in the 42nd minute, giving the home side a comfortable 2-0 cushion going into the break.

Dreams FC responded early in the second half, with Jonathan Nemorden finding the back of the net in the 51st minute to make it 2-1 and offer a glimmer of hope. But that hope was short-lived as Poku bagged his second of the match six minutes later, restoring Kotoko’s two-goal lead.

Substitute Wisdom Fernando Bassey sealed the rout in the 71st minute with a cool finish to make it 4-1, sending the Baba Yara crowd into raptures.

The emphatic win lifts Kotoko to 4th on the table with 54 points from 31 games, level with Nations FC and Heart of Lions and just two points behind leaders Bibiani Gold Stars. The result also sees Amoah and Poku rise into joint fifth on the league’s top scorer chart, each with nine goals.

Dreams FC, meanwhile, remain 9th with 43 points. Despite a recent upturn in form, they were no match for a fired-up Kotoko side playing with title intentions.
