Kotoko’s Structural Arrangement to be Blamed for Poor Form – Sistofe Atsrim
Asante Kotoko’s inconsistent performance this season has sparked concerns, with Sitsofe Atsrim, a contributor to Inside the Ghana Premier League on The BAC Sports, attributing the team’s struggles to its structural arrangements.
Despite a promising start under head coach Prosper Nartey Ogum, the Porcupines have faltered in recent weeks, dropping from the top four to seventh on the league table.
The team went unbeaten in their first six games but hit a rough patch, failing to win any of their next five matches—losing four and drawing one—before bouncing back with a vital 2-0 win over Aduana Stars on Matchday 12 in Dormaa.

Atsrim has pointed to Kotoko’s structure, which now includes Malik Jabir as technical director and Kwesi Appiah as head of sporting affairs, as a contributing factor to the downturn in form.
“With so many roles overlapping, there is a lack of clear direction for the team,” Atsrim explained. “This confusion impacts decision-making on and off the pitch, which filters down to the players.”
The shift in responsibilities among the technical team appears to have disrupted the cohesion and focus that characterized their early-season form.
Coach Prosper Nartey Ogum has faced mounting pressure, despite his strong start. The loss of momentum has left Kotoko trailing league leaders Bibiani Goldstars by five points and a point behind archrivals Accra Hearts of Oak.
The struggles have raised questions about whether the current structure is sustainable for long-term success.
The recent win against Aduana Stars, however, provides a glimmer of hope as the team seeks to get back among the ranks to challenge for the Ghana Premier League title.
