Sarfo Duku, the Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, has provided an update on the ongoing court case involving Grace Siaw, who is allegedly the girlfriend of Braima, a key suspect in the murder of Nana Pooley.

Siaw appeared in court for the second time on Monday, March 3, but the proceedings were delayed due to legal arguments regarding jurisdiction, which impacted her bail application.

Duku confirmed that Siaw was arrested on February 22 for allegedly assisting Braima in his escape from the country. Police investigations suggest she hid Braima between February 4 and February 17, provided him with financial support, and helped him flee to Senegal via Côted’Ivoire.

Siaw was arraigned in court on February 25 and has been in police custody since then, Duku stated.

Her lawyers submitted a bail application, but it could not be heard today because the Attorney General’s office raised a challenge regarding the court’s jurisdiction to handle the case.

Duku further explained that this jurisdictional challenge also affected the bail applications of three other individuals connected to the case. The judge has set a ruling for Tuesday, March 4, to address the jurisdictional issue, after which the court will proceed with the bail hearings.

If the ruling favors the Attorney General, the court will not be able to hear the bail applications. However, if it goes in the other direction, the hearings will continue, he added.

With Braima still at large, authorities continue their efforts to apprehend him while legal proceedings move forward.

Pooley, who was tragically stabbed to death in early February during Kotoko’s league match against Nsoatreman in Nsoatre, will be laid to rest on March 6.
