Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has slammed the behavior of True Democracy players and technical team following his side’s dramatic 2-1 victory in the MTN FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors secured a hard-fought win against the Division One side, thanks to a last-gasp goal from Kwame Opoku in stoppage time. However, tempers flared after the final whistle, prompting Ogum to voice his displeasure.
You can’t come and play football and misbehave like that, Ogum stated in his post-match remarks. Football is a game of discipline and respect. If you lose, you accept it and move on. The conduct of their players and technical team after the match was unacceptable.
Kotoko had taken an early lead through Saaka Dauda in the 12th minute, but True Democracy fought back with an equalizer from Isaac Botchway in the 62nd minute. Just when the game seemed destined for extra time, Opoku struck in the 94th minute to seal the win for the Premier League giants.
The result sees Asante Kotoko advance to the semi-finals, where they will face Berekum Chelsea. Meanwhile, the other semi-final clash will see Attram De Vesser take on Golden Kicks.
