Black Stars and LA Galaxy attacker, Joseph Paintsil, has expressed his disappointment with the current state of the Ghana Premier League, citing poor facilities and limited TV coverage as major concerns.

Speaking with The BAC Sports Channel, about his struggles to watch the league while abroad, Paintsil admitted that his excitement for local football has faded.

“The Ghana Premier League doesn’t excite me anymore. I used to watch it in Europe, but in America, it’s difficult to watch. We have to invest in our pitches and facilities to help bring back the love,” he stated.

The former Tema Youth player emphasized that while Ghana has talented players, the league lacks the necessary infrastructure to showcase their abilities on a global scale.

“We have quality players in the league, but the foundation to expose the talent to the world is not there. We need to invest more in the pitches to help the players, and also get a better TV coverage deal for the league. This way, scouts and investors can watch the league from anywhere without needing to come to Ghana,” he added.

Joseph Paintsil featured in 22 matches for Tema Youth in the Ghana Premier League, netting 10 goals.
