Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has boldly claimed that his side were the best team in the just-ended 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season, despite finishing fifth on the league table.
The Continental Club Masters wrapped up their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over FC Samartex in Round 34 on Saturday, June 8, at the Accra Sports Stadium. The win pushed Hearts of Oak to 58 points, level with arch-rivals Asante Kotoko, but the Phobians edged them on goal difference to place fourth.
Ultimately, Bibiani Gold Stars were crowned champions with 63 points, followed closely by Nations FC and Heart of Lions, both with 60 points.
Speaking after the final whistle, Coach Ouattara lauded his team’s resilience and quality over the course of the season.
“Hearts of Oak were the best team in the 2024/25 season,” Ouattara asserted.
While the claim may spark debate among football fans and pundits, many will acknowledge that Hearts of Oak showed significant improvement under Ouattara’s leadership, especially in the latter part of the season.
