Heart of Lions Soar to a Narrow Win Over Kotoko

Heart of Lions secured a stunning 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi, handing the Porcupine Warriors their second consecutive loss of the season.

A single goal from Kwadwo Obeng Jr., a former Hearts of Oak striker, was enough to see the visitors triumph on Saturday afternoon.

Asante Kotoko, eager to recover from their recent midweek defeat to Legon Cities, struggled against a disciplined Lions side led by their former manager, Bashir Hayford.

The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when Kotoko’s goalkeeper, Mohamed Camara, misfired an attempted clearance, allowing Obeng Jr. to easily guide the ball into an empty net.

This lone goal marked Heart of Lions’ first away win of the season and set the tone for a challenging match for Kotoko.

Despite enjoying 62% of possession and outshooting Lions 10 to 4, Kotoko couldn’t convert their efforts, as both teams managed only one shot on target in the closely contested game.

The defeat saw Kotoko slip from second to third place on the league table, now focusing on their upcoming away fixture against Bechem United.

Heart of Lions, meanwhile, rise to seventh place and hope to capitalize on this momentum when they host Berekum Chelsea in their next match.
