Antoine Semenyo helps AFC Bournemouth Edge Spurs in Vital Premier League Win

Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo delivered a lively performance after returning from one-game suspension as AFC Bournemouth edged past Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at the Vitality Stadium, climbing above their opponents in the Premier League table.

Defender Dean Huijsen scored the decisive goal with a first-half header, continuing Spurs’ struggles with set-piece defending.

The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Marcus Tavernier’s pinpoint corner found the unmarked Huijsen at the back post. The 19-year-old nodded the ball past Fraser Foster, handing Bournemouth a crucial advantage.

Semenyo’s pace and physicality caused problems for Tottenham throughout the match, as Bournemouth looked the more threatening side.

Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson came close to extending the lead before halftime, while Spurs struggled to regain their rhythm after conceding.

Ange Postecoglou introduced captain Son Heung-min in the second half to spark a Tottenham revival, but despite late efforts from James Maddison, Pedro Porro, and Dejan Kulusevski, they failed to find the equalizer.

Bournemouth’s defense, led by a disciplined backline and Semenyo’s relentless pressing, held firm to secure the victory.

The win lifted the Cherries to ninth in the table, one place above Tottenham, who now face further challenges after Ben Davies left the game with a suspected hamstring injury leaving Spurs sweating over the availability of their center backs as the head home to face Chelsea over the weekend.
