Nsoatreman FC has officially withdrawn from the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League and dissolved its operations following the tragic stabbing of a supporter, Nana Pooley, during the club’s match against Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre.
Confirming the decision in an interview with Sporty FM, the club’s Public Relations Officer, Joel Kofi Gyempeh, stated that all players and technical staff had been released due to rising security concerns.
Nsoatreman FC has been dissolved, and the players and technical team have been asked to go home. Gyempeh said.
He further explained that although a court case is ongoing and the suspect remains at large, public backlash against the club has escalated. Allegations linking Nsoatreman FC to the incident have led to increasing security threats, making it unsafe for the team to continue.
The shocking turn of events has raised concerns over security at football matches in Ghana. In their official communication to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nsoatreman FC highlighted prior concerns regarding their matches against Asante Kotoko and Samartex FC.
With safety now a pressing issue, club management has opted to withdraw from the league entirely, prioritizing the well-being of their players and staff.
