crossorigin="anonymous"> BREAKING: Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum Steps Down as Asante Kotoko Head Coach -

In a shocking turn of events, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has decided to step down from his role as head coach of Asante Kotoko, pending management approval according to reports.

The news comes in the wake of a string of underwhelming performances by the Porcupine Warriors, including their recent 2-0 defeat to Nations FC. The club has now gone four matches without a win, a stretch that has significantly dented their title hopes and frustrated fans.

Dr. Ogum’s second stint with the club began in 2023, following a successful first tenure in which he led Kotoko to the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title. His return was met with high expectations, but inconsistency in form has plagued the team this season.

Kotoko currently sits 4th on the league table with 47 points after 28 matches. While still within reach of the top, pressure has mounted over recent weeks due to poor results and growing calls for change from sections of the fanbase.

Ogum had earlier expressed his dissatisfaction with the team’s performances, stressing the need for greater commitment and determination from his players. “We keep working, we keep playing the games,” he said after their latest defeat, a statement that now reads like a farewell note.

It remains to be seen whether the club’s management will accept his resignation or attempt to persuade him to stay as the season nears its final stretch.
