Goalkeeping Errors Condemn Asante Kotoko to Fourth Straight Defeat
Asante Kotoko’s struggles continued in the Ghana Premier League as they suffered their fourth consecutive defeat, falling 2-0 to Nations FC in a Matchday 11 fixture at the Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
The game was defined by two costly errors from goalkeeper Mohamed Camara, which gifted the visitors all three points.
The match started with Porcupine Warriors displaying intent, but it was Nations FC who capitalized on a mistake to open the scoring. Camara failed to deal with a cross, allowing Nafiu Sulemana to pounce and fire the visitors into the lead.
Not long after, Camara made another critical error. Receiving a routine back pass from a defender, the goalkeeper’s heavy touch led to a loss of control, enabling Faisal Charwetey to calmly roll the ball into an empty net, doubling Nations FC’s advantage.
Despite Kotoko’s attempts to mount a comeback, Nations FC held firm, sealing an impressive victory on the road. The win propelled Nations FC to the top of the league table with 22 points, benefiting from Bibiani Goldstars’ 2-0 loss to Medeama.
Kotoko’s poor run of form sees them slide down to 8th place with 15 points, intensifying pressure on the team to find solutions and return to winning ways.
