Hearts of Oak Focused on Ghana Premier League Title Despite Fierce Competition- Ouattara

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has acknowledged the intense competition in this season’s Ghana Premier League but emphasized that his ultimate goal remains winning the league title.

Despite a slow start to the season, the Rainbow Club has found form, going on a five-game unbeaten streak, including three wins and two draws. Hearts currently sit in sixth place on the league table with 19 points from 12 matches, just two spots shy of the coveted top four.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Original FM, the experienced tactician affirmed his ambition to lead the team to league glory but admitted the challenge posed by other strong contenders.

“The teams that are competing to win the Ghana Premier League are many. Bibiani GoldStars, Nations FC, Medeama, Heart of Lions, Hearts of Oak, and Asante Kotoko are all fighting for the title,” Ouattara stated.

He further stressed that every team competing in the league is striving for success.

“If you say it is not your target to win the league, why are you playing? We are competing for the title, and if it comes to pass, it will not be a surprise; if it doesn’t happen, too, it will not be a surprise.”

The Phobians face a crucial test in their next match against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on December 15 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
