Vision FC Begin GPL Campaign With Commanding Win Over Young Apostles

Vision FC made a strong start to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season after securing a commanding 3-0 victory over Young Apostles at the Nii Adjei Okraku Sports Complex in Tema on Saturday.

The Tema-based side wasted little time making their presence felt, taking the lead just four minutes into the contest through Naziru Alhassan Nyenye.

The early goal gave Vision FC the perfect platform to settle into the game, while Young Apostles were forced to chase an equaliser against a side that looked comfortable in possession and dangerous in attack.

Vision doubled their advantage shortly before the break when Setsofia Aqetey found the back of the net in the 40th minute, giving the hosts a two-goal cushion heading into halftime.

Aqetey was at the centre of the action again after the restart, adding his second goal of the afternoon in the 68th minute to complete an impressive individual performance.

The midfielder’s second goal came from a free kick that took a deflection on its way into the net, leaving the Young Apostles goalkeeper with little chance of preventing Vision from extending their advantage.

Young Apostles struggled to find a response as Vision FC maintained control of the contest and protected their comfortable lead through the closing stages.

The 3-0 triumph also ensured Vision FC maintained their unbeaten record in opening-day fixtures, while claiming their first victory on the opening weekend of a Ghana Premier League campaign.

Vision Take Early Head-to-Head Advantage

The result also gives Vision FC the upper hand in their Premier League head-to-head record against Young Apostles since both clubs earned promotion to the top flight ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Vision’s latest victory takes their record against the Sunyani-based club to two wins, while Young Apostles have one victory. The remaining two meetings between the sides have ended in draws.

For Vision FC, the opening-day success offers an early boost as they begin another Premier League campaign with ambitions of establishing themselves among the division’s competitive sides.

Young Apostles, meanwhile, will have to regroup quickly after a difficult start and look to respond in their next fixture.

Vision’s three-goal margin also sends an early message about their attacking threat, with Nyenye’s early strike and Aqetey’s brace ensuring the hosts enjoyed a memorable opening afternoon.

The 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season continues on Sunday with the remaining fixtures scheduled to take place across the country.

However, Medeama SC’s opening fixture will be played separately because of their involvement in the CAF Champions League preliminary qualifying round.

The Tarkwa-based club is representing Ghana on the continental stage and their domestic schedule has therefore been adjusted to accommodate their Champions League commitments.

With Vision FC already having three points on the board, the opening weekend has begun with a convincing statement from the Tema outfit as the league’s other clubs prepare to enter the fray.
