Sports Minister Hon. Kofi Adams has given Parliament a detailed account of the logistical operation that underpinned Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, disclosing figures on visa processing for the Black Stars’ travelling party and a comprehensive breakdown of ticket procurement for the team’s three group-stage fixtures.
Visa Processing
Presenting the figures, the Minister said the Ministry’s system processed a total of 986 visa applications, of which 441 were successful. He added that the Ghana Football Association separately processed a number of applications on its own, covering players, former players, and other football officials attached to the delegation.
Ticket Procurement
Mr Adams told the House that government procured tickets to support fans travelling to the tournament, spending approximately $1.26 million on a total of 2,922 tickets across Ghana’s three group matches: 948 tickets for the Panama fixture, 1,000 for the England fixture, and 974 for the Croatia fixture.
Each ticket category carried a FIFA-set face value, to which member associations were permitted to add a 10 percent administrative charge the figure that determined the final purchase price paid for every ticket tier.
