Azamati failed to win a medal in 100m event

Benjamin Azamati placed 5th in the men’s 100m final at the ongoing 13th African Games, Accra 2023 to leave Ghana with no medals in that event.

The sprinter was Ghana’s medal hopeful in the men’s 100m event but he failed to turn up when it mattered the most.

Cameron’s Eseme Alobwede Emmanuel won the final after running a time of 10.14seconds to win gold.

Itsekri Usheoritse from Nigeria won the silver medal after finishing second with a time of 10.29seconds.

Azamati’s time of 10.42seconds could only place him in 5th place, two places outside of the medal zone.

His chances of making it to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris has been dealt a huge blow as he will now need other competitions to be able to qualify.

Ghana’s other representative in the final, Barnabas Aggerh, finished in 6th place with a time of 10.50seconds.
