The Black Satellites of Ghana has managed to progress to the final of the men’s football competition, at the ongoing 13th African Games, happening in Accra.

They beat Senegal 1-0 in the semifinal at the Accra Sports Stadium, to book a place in Friday’s final.

Substitute, Michael Ephson scored the only goal late on in the 83rd minute, to secure Ghana’s place in the battle for the gold medal.

Jerry Afriyie did all the work by taking on two defenders and squaring for Ephson to tap into an empty net.

Before that, Aziz’s 13th minute free kick narrowly missed the target flying just a whisker of the left post.

Senegal’s Youssoupha sayang, came close to opening the scoring but his header from a corner kick in the 15th minute went inches over the cross bar.

There were plenty of goal mouth action in the game. Abdul Sulemana’s shot from 25 yards was expertly stopped by goalkeeper Prince Hally Gueye of Senegal in the 33rd minute.

In added time, Idrissa Gueye had a scoring chance from a rebound but he failed to get a clean contact with the ball, which was eventually cleared to safety by Ghana skipper, Edwin Kuffour.

Senegal dominated the last minutes before center referee, Ahmed Arajiga blew the whistle to end the game.

This result means that Ghana will meet Uganda in the final. Uganda triumphed 4-2 over Congo in the other semifinal game to secure a place in the final.
