Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams is focused on using global events like the 2026 FIFA World Cup to draw U.S. investment into our sports tourism, creative industries, and technology sectors. At a recent networking reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Accra to honor the Deputy Assistant Secretary for West Africa, Mr. William Stevens, spoke about the strong and lasting partnership between Ghana and the United States, a relationship built on shared values, respect, and practical cooperation.
Education continues to be a key part of this partnership. More than 9,000 Ghanaian students are studying in the United States. They act as important bridges for sharing skills, innovation, and knowledge, all of which contribute to Ghana’s development.

Sports, especially football, provide a meaningful way to connect both culturally and economically. With World Cup matches scheduled in Boston and Philadelphia, Ghana have a valuable opportunity to engage with our diaspora community, encourage business partnerships, and present Ghana’s talent and creativity to the world.
Ghana’s trade relations are also growing stronger, with bilateral trade reaching $3.8 billion in 2024. This shows the potential for economic cooperation that benefits both countries.

According to Hon.Kofi Adams, Ghana is committed to deepening a Ghana-U.S. partnership that is practical, people-focused, and forward-thinking, one that strengthens education, sports, trade, and culture to create lasting opportunities for our youth and support sustainable growth for Ghana and the West African region.
