GHANA PREMIER LEAGUE: Hearts of Oak finally beat Basake Holy Stars for the first time

Hearts of Oak recorded their first-ever victory over Basake Holy Stars after three attempts, securing a hard-fought 2–1 win at the CAM Park on Sunday.

Frank Duku opened the scoring for the Phobians at the death of the first half from the penalty spot before Hamza Issah doubled the lead moments after the restart to grab his second goal of the season to hand Hearts a firm grip on the game.

The home side, however, found some consolation midway through the second half when Issah Yakubu converted from the second penalty of the game, registering Holy Stars’ first goal of the season after a long wait.

Despite late pressure, the equalizer proved elusive as the Phobians carried the day, recording their fourth victory of the campaign.

The result sees Hearts of Oak climb to fourth on the table with 16 points while remaining unbeaten after matchday 8.

Meanwhile, Holy Stars’ struggles continue as they sit bottom of the table with just two points after seven games, with one match outstanding.
