The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has suspended Samuel Eto’o, the President of the Cameroon Football Federation, for four matches. He has also been fined $20,000.

The decision comes after an investigation into Eto’o’s conduct during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarterfinal match between Cameroon and host nation Morocco. Cameroon lost the game 2-0.

While CAF did not detail specific events in its statement, reports indicate Eto’o was visibly angry during the match. He was seen making angry gestures, reportedly directed at Moroccan football officials. This outburst happened in a VIP area where CAF President Patrice Motsepe and other football dignitaries were present.

The suspension is linked to Eto’o’s reaction, which is believed to be connected to his frustration over refereeing decisions during the high-stake game. CAF’s disciplinary body investigated incidents from several quarterfinal matches, including this one.

As a result of the ban, Eto’o will not be allowed to attend any official football matches for the duration of his suspension.

The Cameroonian FA President has not yet made a public statement regarding the disciplinary action.
