The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) Disciplinary Board has announced a series of sanctions against the football federations of Senegal and Morocco. The decisions come after incidents during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final, which were found to have broken the CAF Disciplinary Code.

Sanctions Against the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF):

The CAF Disciplinary Board has taken several actions concerning the FSF:

The Head Coach of the Senegalese National Team, Mr. Pape Bouna Thiaw, has been suspended for five (5) official CAF matches. He was found to have acted in an unsporting manner, violating principles of fair play and integrity, and bringing the game into disrepute. He has also been fined $100,000.

National team players Mr. Iliman Ndiaye and Mr. Ismaila Sarr have each been suspended for two (2) official CAF matches for unsporting behaviour towards the match referee.

The FSF itself has been fined a total of USD 615,000. This includes $300,000 for the improper conduct of its supporters, $300,000 for the unsporting conduct of its players and technical staff, and $15,000 because five of its players received cautions during the match.

Sanctions Against the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF):

The CAF Disciplinary Board also issued rulings on the FRMF:

Moroccan National Team player Mr. Achraf Hakimi has been suspended for two (2) official CAF matches for unsporting behaviour, with one of these matches suspended for a period of one year.

Teammate Mr. Ismaël Saibari has been suspended for three (3) official CAF matches and fined $100,000 for unsporting behaviour.

The FRMF has been fined a total of $315,000. This includes $200,000 for the inappropriate behaviour of the stadium’s ball boys, $100,000 for the improper conduct of players and staff who invaded the VAR review area, and $15,000 for the use of lasers by its supporters.

FRMF Protest Rejected:

Additionally, the Disciplinary Board rejected a formal protest lodged by the FRMF against the FSF. The protest had alleged violations of specific tournament regulations during the final match.

CAF emphasizes that all decisions are based on the CAF Disciplinary Code and are intended to uphold the principles of fair play, integrity, and respect within African football.
