GPL: Hearts of Oak Held at Home by Bechem United
Hearts of Oak were forced to settle for a share of the spoils after a frustrating goalless draw against Bechem United in their Ghana Premier League clash at the University of Ghana Stadium, Legon.
The Phobians dominated large spells of the contest but found Bechem United a stubborn opponent, as the visitors defended resolutely to deny the home side all three points.
The stalemate marked Hearts’ eighth goalless draw of the season, the highest by any team in the league underlining their ongoing struggles in front of goal.
While the Phobians picked up a point, the result will feel more like two points dropped, especially after league leaders Medeama suffered defeat against Nations FC earlier on Friday. Hearts had a golden opportunity to close the gap at the top but failed to capitalise.
Despite the draw, Hearts of Oak move from fourth to third on the league table, though they remain seven points adrift of leaders Medeama in the title race.
