Kamaldeen on target as Atalanta dispatch Juve to reach Coppa Italia semis
Ghana winger, Kamaldeen Sulemana was on the scoresheet as Atalanta produced a commanding performance to beat Juventus 3-0 and secure a place in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia.
The 23-year-old made a telling impact after coming on in the second half after replacing Gianluca Scamacca in the 70th minute.
Kamaldeen needed just seven minutes to make his mark, calmly finishing to double Atalanta’s advantage and put the game firmly beyond Juventus.
Earlier in the contest, Scamacca had opened the scoring for the Bergamo-based side from the penalty spot to give them a deserved first-half lead.
Juventus struggled to respond, and Atalanta continued to control proceedings with confidence and intensity.
Mario Pašalić later put the result beyond doubt, adding a third goal to complete an emphatic win and seal Atalanta’s passage into the last four of the competition.
The victory means Atalanta have now reached the Coppa Italia semi-finals for the second time in the last three seasons, underlining their growing consistency in the domestic cup competition.
They will be hoping to go one step further this time and lift the trophy for the first time since their historic triumph in 1963.
Kamaldeen’s goal will come as a boost for both club and country, as the Ghanaian continues to make a strong case for more minutes with his impactful performances in Italy.
