Asante Kotoko’s preparations for Sunday’s big game against Hearts of Oak were interrupted today after three unidentified men reportedly entered the club’s training ground.
Sources say the men attempted to stop head coach Prince Owusu from taking the session and called for his removal. The incident caused a brief disruption, but calm was quickly restored after the club’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman stepped in and spoke with those involved.
Training later resumed as the team continued to prepare for the highly anticipated match.
Coach Karim Zito Resigns
In a separate development, coach Karim Zito has resigned as head coach following an emergency meeting with the IMC. His exit comes after a series of poor results, including the team’s recent elimination from the MTN FA Cup at the hands of Aduana Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Amoah Sends Warning to Hearts
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has sent a strong message to Hearts of Oak captain Benjamin Asare and his defensive partner Kelvin Osei Asibey.

Albert Amoah said: “Tell Kelvin Osei Asibey and Benjamin Asare that we’ll meet on the pitch on Sunday. We wish Hearts of Oak a safe journey to Kumasi.”

Sunday’s clash is expected to draw huge attention as both teams look to claim bragging rights in one of Ghana football’s biggest rivalries.
