Cynthia Kwabi of the Ghana Immigration Service once again proved she is the queen of the table, successfully defending her crown at the Ghana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) Sheroes 3 “Show Time” Championship. In a dramatic final on Saturday, February 21, 2026, she edged out a spirited Joanita Borteye 4-3 at the DG Hathiramani Sports Hall.

Kwabi started with great confidence, racing to a commanding 3-0 lead by winning the first three games 11-9, 13-11, and 11-7. She looked to be in complete control.

However, Borteye showed tremendous fighting spirit. She refused to give up, fighting her way back into the contest by taking the next three games 6-11, 7-11, and 9-11 to level the match at 3-3.

With the championship on the line, Kwabi found another gear. She refocused and played a superb final game, winning it 11-6 to seal her victory and retain her title.

The champion’s path to the final was not an easy one. In the quarterfinals, she faced a huge challenge against Emerald Borteye. Trailing 3-0, Kwabi mounted a remarkable comeback to win 4-3, a victory that highlighted her resilience. She then carried that momentum into the semifinals, where she delivered a strong 4-1 win over Eva Adom-Amankwaa of the Ghana Armed Forces.

After the match, a delighted Kwabi credited her recent international exposure for her strong performance. She explained that a training tour in China with fellow players, including her final opponent, had been very beneficial.

“I went for a training tour together with Joanita Borteye and Israel Aklie last year in China,” Kwabi said. “I learnt a lot from the Chinese and I used the experience I had in this tournament.”

She also took a moment to thank the leaders of the association for their support. “I want to thank Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, President of the Ghana Table Tennis Association, and his executive. They are doing very well. Recently, we went for a training tour in China and it helped us a lot.”

With one victory now behind her, Kwabi’s focus has already shifted to the next big challenge: the upcoming GTTA Otumfuo Smash Tournament in Kumasi. She made it clear she has no plans to slow down.

“Yes, if you know Cynthia Kwabi, you will know that I am always training,” she stated with confidence. “Expect a massive performance from me in the GTTA Otumfuo Smash Tournament set for next week.”

With this win, Kwabi adds another title to her growing record in the Sheroes series. Her ability to stay calm under pressure and perform when it matters most has once again cemented her place as one of Ghana’s top table tennis players.
