Infantino Lauds Ghana’s Infrastructure Progress Under Kurt Okraku

President of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, has commended Ghana for the significant progress made in football infrastructure development under the leadership of Kurt Okraku as the president of the Ghana Football Association.

Infantino praised the Ghana Football Association’s effective use of FIFA support programmes, highlighting major upgrades at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, the country’s national technical hub. According to him, the facility now boasts newly installed floodlights, a 30-bed accommodation facility for teams, and the addition of two new pitches, one artificial and one natural turf.

“Ghana has been one of the Member Associations who have made excellent use of the FIFA Forward and other FIFA Support Programmes over the years,” Infantino noted.

“The national technical centre, Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, now has new floodlights, a 30-bed accommodation for teams and two new pitches (artificial and natural turf). Another technical centre has been inaugurated in Winkogo, in northern part of the country,” he added.

Beyond Prampram, infrastructure expansion has extended to the northern sector of the country with the inauguration of a new technical centre in Winkogo, a move aimed at decentralising football development and creating more opportunities for young talents outside the southern belt.

Infantino also singled out Kurt Okraku for his commitment to growing the game at all levels, particularly women’s football. He acknowledged that the Ghana FA President has worked tirelessly to increase participation nationwide, with crucial backing from the FIFA Talent Development Scheme.

“Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku has been working hard to ensure increased participation, especially among women, and with help from the FIFA Talent Development Scheme,” Infantino stated.

The developments form part of a broader vision to modernise Ghana’s football ecosystem, strengthen grassroots structures, and position the country as a leading force in African football development.
