The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams today received the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohonu, at his office for a courtesy call aimed at building a closer working relationship between the two institutions.

The meeting served as a platform to discuss ways to improve collaboration, with a central focus on guaranteeing the safety and security of all sporting activities across the country. The discussions proved the importance of a secure environment for both athletes and fans.

During the talks, the Minister commended the Ghana Police Service for its efforts in this area. He specifically praised the professionalism and dedication of the Sports Police Units, whose presence at league centres has contributed to a noticeable improvement in security at match venues.

The conversation also touched on the successes of Ghanaian teams, with special recognition given to the Police Ladies Football Club. The Minister noted that the team’s impressive achievements on the field continue to bring honour to the country and project a positive image of Ghana on the African continent.

Looking beyond competitive matches, the two leaders explored avenues for deeper cooperation in the development of sports infrastructure and recreational programmes.

They acknowledged the vital role that sports play in encouraging discipline, promoting good health, and fostering a spirit of national unity.

The Minister expressed his gratitude to the IGP for the visit and reaffirmed his appreciation for the Police Service’s continued support in strengthening the sporting fraternity and recreation in the country.
