The National Sports Authority (NSA) has assured the readiness of the Baba Yara Stadium for Ghana’s opener against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers next month.
The Black Stars will clash with the Palancas Negras on September 5 as announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Tuesday.
However, there are concerns about the current state of the pitch following the recent hosting of a five-day ‘Kumuyi’ Church program.
However, ahead of the game, Ashanti Regional Director of NSA, Kwame Baa has assured that the pitch will be ready for the much-anticipated game.
“At the end of the day, we will come back to say that yes, prudently, we have managed the little resources from the Kumuyi program,” he told Luv FM.
“We have been able to cater for our water bills, electricity and all manner of people working day in and day out to ensure your dear Baba Yara Stadium is at a point where we can all be very proud of,” he added.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 16:00GMT.
Ghana will travel to play Niger in their second Group F game on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The top two teams from the group will qualify for the 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco next year.
