MTN FA Cup Preview: Quarter-final battles set for Techiman and Cape Coast

The race for silverware in the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup intensifies this weekend as the competition reaches the quarter-final stage, with eight clubs battling for a place in the last four.

For this round, the Ghana Football Association has scheduled the matches at two neutral venues, the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman and the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, with each stadium hosting two fixtures.

Six Ghana Premier League sides and two Division One League teams remain in contention, promising an exciting mix of top-flight quality and lower-tier ambition.

Dreams FC vs Heart of Lions

One of the standout ties will see 2023 champions Dreams FC face Kpando Heart of Lions in Cape Coast.

Dreams FC booked their place in the quarter-finals after defeating Inter Allies 4–2. The Still Believe lads will be eager to continue their strong FA Cup pedigree as they chase another title.

Heart of Lions, however, have shown resilience in this year’s competition. The Kpando-based side fought hard to eliminate Division Two outfit True Life FC with a 3–2 victory to reach this stage. Their attacking threat could pose serious problems for Dreams in what promises to be a competitive all-Premier League clash.

Attram De Visser vs Medeama SC

The second match in Cape Coast pits ambitious Division One League side Attram De Visser against two-time FA Cup winners and GPL leaders, Medeama SC.

Attram De Visser have been one of the surprise packages of this season’s tournament. The last season’s semi-finalists eliminated Vision FC before producing a commanding 4–0 victory over Eleven Wonders in the Round of 16. Their consistent cup runs mean they will now be featuring in their third consecutive quarter-final.

Standing in their way is Medeama SC, a side with significant FA Cup experience. The Tarkwa-based club will rely on their top-flight quality and cup pedigree to avoid an upset and secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Aduana FC vs Techiman Liberty Youth

At the Ohene Ameyaw Park in Techiman, Aduana FC will take on Division One side Techiman Liberty Youth.

Aduana arrive as one of the tournament’s most impressive teams after eliminating defending champions Asante Kotoko earlier in the competition.

The Fire Boys will be confident of progressing but cannot afford complacency against a Liberty Youth side that stunned Real Tamale United with a 3–0 win in the Round of 16.

Playing at a venue close to home could also give Liberty Youth extra motivation as they seek a giant-killing result.

Nations FC vs Berekum Chelsea

The final quarter-final fixture will see Nations FC clash with Berekum Chelsea in another all-Premier League showdown.

Nations FC advanced to this stage after edging Swedru All Blacks, while Berekum Chelsea booked their place with a narrow 1–0 victory over Tamale City.

Both clubs have been competitive this season in the cup competition and will view the FA Cup as a realistic opportunity to secure silverware.

Broadcast and match schedule

Sunday’s fixtures in Cape Coast which are Dreams FC vs Heart of Lions at 3:00 PM and Attram De Visser vs Medeama SC at 7:00 PM will be broadcast live on television.

With a blend of experienced Premier League sides and determined lower-division challengers, the quarter-finals promise drama, surprises and high-stakes football as teams chase a coveted place in the MTN FA Cup semi-finals.
