The Ghana Football Association (GFA) must inform the Confederation of African Football (CAF) about Baba Yara Stadium’s status for the Black Stars’ match against Angola on September 5.

GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum mentioned CAF’s concerns about the pitch’s condition after viral images and videos showed its poor state.

Fans have also expressed doubts about the stadium’s readiness. Twum reassured that the technical team has submitted its plans and the coach will announce the squad soon.

“For over ten days, we’ve discussed it. CAF is aware, and they’ve requested an update on Baba Yara’s current state to make a decision,” he informed Peace FM.

“Currently, we plan to play Angola at Baba Yara on September 5, but CAF is concerned due to recent viral content showing the pitch’s poor condition. They see it as risky. We must update them within a given timeframe, which will inform their decision. It’s our main issue, but our technical team has filed their program. We expect the coach soon to announce the squad.

“Once the coach arrives, he’ll announce his squad. Players participating on Friday will arrive Saturday, those playing Saturday will come Sunday. By September 2, the entire squad will be here to start preparations,” he explained.
