Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey was shown a red card during the FA Cup fifth-round match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Newcastle United.

Lamptey was sent off after committing a late tackle on Newcastle’s Jacob Murphy, receiving his second yellow card of the game.

The match got off to a thrilling start, with Newcastle taking the lead through Swedish forward Alexander Isak, who scored a penalty in the 22nd minute. Brighton equalized 22 minutes later, with Gambian winger Yankubah Minteh finding the net.

In the closing minutes, Newcastle’s Antony Gordon was shown a straight red card following a confrontation with Brighton’s defender Van Hecke.

The match went into extra time, where English-Ghanaian striker Danny Welbeck scored the decisive goal, lifting the ball over goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to secure the win for Brighton.
