Ghana Taekwondo President Frederick Lartey Otu has officially intensified his campaign for a third term in office, urging delegates to endorse continuity, experience, and unity as the association prepares for its elective congress on Friday, July 18, 2026, at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Having served the sport in various capacities from athlete to technical official and now President, Mr. Lartey Otu says his leadership journey has been defined by integrity, dedication, and a commitment to advancing taekwondo in Ghana.

As part of his re-election campaign, the incumbent President unveiled a 20-day campaign message highlighting the achievements of his administration while outlining his vision for the future of the sport. The campaign focused on strengthening every level of Ghana Taekwondo, including athlete development, coaching, officiating, club growth, and regional expansion.

Leadership is about service. Together, we have expanded opportunities for athletes, coaches, referees, clubs, and regional associations across Ghana,” Mr. Lartey Otu stated.

He emphasized that grassroots development remains central to his vision, noting that investing in young athletes is essential to building the next generation of champions.

Reflecting on the achievements of his administration, he described his leadership as one built on results through the development of athletes, empowerment of coaches, strengthening of referees, and expansion of clubs across the country.

Looking ahead, Mr. Lartey Otu pledged to prioritize excellence, sustainability, athlete welfare, and high-performance development if given another mandate.

He said his administration would continue creating more opportunities for Ghanaian athletes to compete internationally, stressing that greater exposure is critical to achieving success on the global stage.

On governance, the incumbent President reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance, describing them as the guiding principles of his administration.

He also outlined plans to promote greater inclusion within the federation by expanding opportunities for women, youth, and Para Taekwondo athletes, while strengthening regional structures and securing strategic partnerships to ensure the long-term sustainability of the sport.

According to Mr. Lartey Otu, a third term would provide the opportunity to consolidate the gains made over the past two terms and build a stronger foundation for future growth.

With the election approaching, he appealed directly to delegates to support his vision for the association.

Experience matters. Vision matters. Results matter. Let’s continue the journey together,” he said, adding that every vote would represent a commitment to unity, progress, athlete development, and a stronger future for Ghana Taekwondo.

Mr. Lartey Otu is contesting the election under the campaign slogan, “Experience. Integrity. Development. Excellence.”

Delegates from across the country are expected to cast their ballots on July 18 at the Accra Sports Stadium, where they will elect the leadership that will guide Ghana Taekwondo through its next chapter of growth and development.
