The President of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAV), Madam Bushira Hajij, has praised Ghana’s efforts to develop the sport across the region. She gave the commendation during a recent visit to the country, where she observed the ongoing Kalibi Zone 3 Volleyball Championship.

Madam Hajij noted that the Ministry of Sports and Recreation has shown real dedication to the game. She stated that the smooth organization of the championship and the high level of participation from different countries is a sign of progress. She was impressed by the talent displayed by the athletes and said she firmly believes Africa has the potential to compete with the best in the world.

The African Volleyball President encouraged Ghana to stay focused and to keep taking part in international competitions. According to her, the continent has a strong history with volleyball, and this foundation should be used to reach greater success on the global stage.

The sector Minister, Hon. Kofi Adams, agreed with the CAV President’s remarks. He stressed that volleyball has deep roots in Africa and deserves the necessary support to grow. “With greater investment and backing, our sport can compete internationally,” he said. “This would open up many opportunities for our players and our nations.”

Beyond government support, Madam Hajij also called on the media to play a bigger role. She asked journalists and media houses to use their platforms to give volleyball more visibility.

However she explained that more media coverage would help attract sponsors and bring in the resources needed to keep the sport growing. “We need the media to help keep volleyball relevant and competitive,” she added.

Hon. Kofi Adams assured the public that the government remains committed to sports development. He said the Ministry, following the President’s direction, is actively working to improve sports facilities across the country. The goal is to create better environments where young talents can be discovered and developed.

With teamwork, the right support, and strong media involvement, African volleyball can reach a new level of excellence and earn greater recognition around the world.
